Queer History
Modern Philippine criminal law does not criminalize consensual same-sex relations, though morality rules and discrimination have shaped queer people's lives. Metro Manila's 1994 Pride march was among Asia's earliest, and local protections have expanded since, but a nationwide SOGIE equality law and legal recognition for same-sex couples remain pending.
