Galle: plan your visit
Galle offers historic streets and the heritage of Sri Lanka’s southern coast. Allow time for the old town, but check whether your chosen address is in the same district. The selection includes accommodation or hospitality addresses such as Templeberg Villa Boutique Hotel. Check whether you are booking a stay, dining visit or another service, and whether non-resident visitors are admitted before adding it to the day’s itinerary.
Transport & before you visit
Build the trip around the chosen address and the time you intend to arrive. Check local public transport and arrange the return journey before setting out, especially if the visit continues into the evening.
Before visiting, use the place’s official notice for your date to confirm opening or programme times, admission rules and any booking or membership requirement. For an event, check the year and exact venue; an old poster does not confirm a current edition.

- but meaningful layer of queer-friendly and gay-owned travel businesses.
LGBTQ+ law, Pride and community history3
- Sri Lanka's Penal Code inherited colonial offences in 1883, and a 1995 amendment made the prohibition gender-neutral rather than repealing it.
- LGBTQ+ groups have pursued reform through courts, Pride and advocacy;
- in 2023 the Supreme Court found a private member's decriminalization bill constitutional, but the offences remain until parliament changes the law.

Local culture and travel context
Sri Lanka still retains colonial-era criminal provisions used against consensual same-sex intimacy, although organised campaigns for repeal are highly visible. Colombo’s scene is built less around permanent gay bars and more around mixed nightlife, Pride events, support groups and organisations such as EQUAL GROUND and Équité.
