LGBTQ+ law and community history1
On 29 August 2022, the High Court decriminalised consensual same-sex sexual activity between adults in private. SKNAFE took part in the constitutional case and launched a national campaign for visibility and respect in March 2026. Legal change does not guarantee social acceptance. A date for the next Pride event has not been verified.

Language, culture and nightlife
English is official. Kittitian and Nevisian describe island identities, not queer affiliation. #LGBTQSKN and #SeeHearRespect appear in SKNAFE’s 2026 campaign. They help find community material but do not identify a permanent venue. Search each island and town separately; ordinary beach bars are not automatically LGBTQ+ spaces.
Maps, search, messaging, booking, reviews and community2
Contact, messaging and community: SKNAFE’s 2026 campaign mentions Instagram, Facebook and WhatsApp, but its current accounts and contact links still need confirmation. Booking, reviews and transport: Nevis Tourism publishes ferry routes and links to the SKN Transit app. The Basseterre–Charlestown ferry, water taxis and vehicle ferries use different docks. The app and actual ferry journeys have not been tested.
Maps and search: include the island and town, then check the business name and address against official information. Dating and LGBTQ+ apps: the linked Grindr guide provides safety advice only; access in this country, GPS functionality and local popularity have not been verified. Booking and reviews: compare the operator’s terms with dated reviews. “Check first” means you need to confirm availability. “Safety information only” does not confirm local availability or endorse the service.

Digital and in-person safety2
Public affection can attract negative attention despite decriminalisation. Camouflage clothing is prohibited. Use licensed transport, check the correct island and return ferry, and avoid isolated beaches after dark.
Do not share your precise location, accommodation details or private contact information on public profiles. Do not send money or identity documents to unverified accounts. Meet in public places with staff present, arrange your return transport and ask permission before photographing people. Hurricane season runs from June to November; weather can affect roads and ferry services. Before booking, check current entry requirements for your passport with the relevant official authority.
