Queer History
Austria decriminalized consensual same-sex relations in 1971, but several discriminatory provisions survived and were removed only through later court and legislative reform. HOSI Wien formed in 1979 as a lasting movement organization; registered partnerships followed in 2010 and equal marriage took effect in 2019.
